  All hail The Jolly Fisherman! I've been coming here since I was 5. Always the best place to celebrate a birthday or mom and dad's anniversary, Mother's or Father's day etc. Definite nostalgia trip. If you hate seeing 3 generations of a family having a good time then you may not dig but note, this is a nostalgia trip with a difference: the seafood is the best in the New York Tri-State area and the prices are ridiculously low for the quality and the portion size.
  This place takes fresh seafood sourcing seriously. Their lump crabmeat, prawns, cocktail shrimp,fried clams and lobsters are first rate. They also do a great job sourcing local fresh whole fish, served simply as it should be. I have a summer house up in Maine and spent my summers as a kid out in Bridgehampton and Montauk and can assure you there is no comparable seafood available out on the Island. The fresh New England seafood options where I live in Manhattan are a joke with outrageous prices and cheap portions. None compare to the old JF. If not up for seafood their Long Island duck, cooked crisp in an orange glaze is probably the best (and last) version of this old skool classic you are likely to find. Of course their apps, chowders, home cooked date nut bread and homemade desserts are also to die for.
  Y'all better get there. Not many places like this left on Long Island, an increasingly vapid foodscape dominated by overpriced, soulless rip-off chain steakhouses.
